Porto - Benfica Clássico ends as a draw

The great battle between Porto and Benfica ended in a 1-1 draw at Estádio do Dragão.
With the draw Porto maintains its one point lead over Benfica in the race for the title with Sporting dropping four points off following a 3-2 loss to SC Braga.

Quique Sanchez Flores side put forth a strong defending effort and took the lead just before the half when José Antonio Reyes' corner was redirected in by AJ Auxerre product Hassan Yebda.

The Águias looked to be heading for a major upset until Hassan Yebda was adjudged to fouling Lisandro López in the area and the spot pointed to. To call it a dreadful call is an understatement and if there is honesty in reporting Lisandro López was going down for the slightest content and calls such as these only harm the game. However with that said and done, Lucho González stepped up and brought the match level with nineteen minutes remaining as he drove the ball straight to the back of the net.

With further scoring the match concluded with a 1-1 draw.

Porto returns to action against Rio Ave next Sunday.
