Kashima Antlers and Nagoya Grampus tied at top of J-League
In mid-week J-League action, clubs involved in the AFC Champions League played catch-up with the table.
At the end of the day, Kashima Antlers 鹿島アントラーズ, recovered from the disappointment of losing out to Adelaide United and defeated Omiya Ardija 大宮アルディージャ 2-0 with two goals by Marquinhos at the twenty-second minute of the match and seven minutes before the break. The victory now pushes the Antlers the top of the J-League table tied with Nagoya Grampus 名古屋グランパス.
Elsewhere Gamba Osaka scored twice within a three minute period and held on to a 2-1 victory over Kashiwa Reysol. Sota Nakazawa opened the scoring for Gamba Osaka nine minutes before the break and only three minutes later Japanese international 日本代表 Yasuhito Endō 遠藤 保仁 converted on a penalty. Reysol's 柏レイソル Minoru Suganuma added a consolation goal seven minutes before time but they were unable to level the match.
Urawa Red Diamonds 浦和レッドダイヤモンズ and Kyōto Sanga 京都サンガ played to a 2-2 draw. It was a costly two points lost for the Red Diamonds as it sees them slip to fourth two points behind the Antlers and Nagoya Grampus 名古屋グランパス and a point behind Ōita Torinīta 大分トリニータ. Kyōto opened the scoring with Yusuke Nakatani goal twenty-seven minutes in the match but Urawa countered with two goals before the break. Brazilian veteran Edmilson leveled the match four minutes before the break with Japanese international 日本代表 Naohiro Takahara 高原 直泰 providing the lead only two minutes later. Four minutes after the break fellow Japanese international Atsushi Yanagisawa 柳沢 敦 drew the match level again and two, where the score stood.
