The "statement" of the day might have been CSKA Moscow 4-0 destruction of Rubin Kazan at Luzhniki Stadium with Vágner Love scoring three goals, making his total seven in the last two matches. With such a definitive victory its hard wonder if CSKA management will be able to convince Valery Gazzaev to return next year.
The Petrovski faithful were disappointed as Zenit St Petersburg and Dinamo Moscow played to a 1-1 draw. Leandro Fernández opened the scoring eight minutes after the break for Dinamo but Fatih Tekke was able to save the day for the home side with eleven minutes remaining. This sets up a mamouth final weekend as Dinamo faces Tom' Tomsk and Zenit goes toe-to-toe against Spartak Moscow.
It wasn't easy but Amkar Perm' defeated Tom' Tomsk 1-0 as Martin Kushev scored from the spot with fifteen minutes remaining. Amkar's European hopes will be contingent on the final weekend as they face Khimki which has pulled off a miraculous flight out of relegation.
Samara Kryliya Sovetov played to a very disappointing scoreless draw against Saturn Moscow Oblast. With a victory today they head into the final weekend against Terek Grozny needing full points.
The spoiler of the day is easily relegation condemned Luch-Energiya Vladivostok which fought Spartak Moscow to a 2-2 draw and have seriously dented Spartak's European efforts. Spartak must now defeat Zenit next week and look for a series of upsets.
Lokomotiv Moscow hung onto a 3-2 victory over FC Moscow after going ahead 3-0 with David Mujiri, Dmitri Sychev and Dennis Glushakov scoring before the break.
Elsewhere Yegor Titov led his Khimki out of relegation with an emphatic 2-1 victory over Spartak Nalchik. After falling a goal down only two minutes into the match with Marat Bikmoev's goal, Eldar Nizamutdinov leveled thirteen minutes later and Slovenian international Nastja Čeh scored the winner on the hour mark.
Finally Terek Grozny and Shinnik Yaroslav played to a scoreless draw.
