With 80,000 strong at Westfalenstadion, BVB was focused on extending their winning streak and without fail they did precisely that defeating Karlsruher SC 4-0. Die Schwarzgelben are well on pace to their best finish since the championship in 2002 and the final three matches will determine if the Europa League is in their immediate future.
BVB-Cheftrainer Jürgen Klopp was highly complimentary of the opposition and with the same starting eleven as last weeks win Frankfurt, they immediately asserted their attacking prowess. Visionary attempts by Nelson Valdez and Tamás Hajnal came close but at the twenty-fifth Jakub Błaszczykowski nailed the ball into the net after Alexander Frei played him through with a good touch. The Dortmunders continued to pressure but slowly Ede Becker’s countering measures presented KSC scoring chances. However two minutes past the hour Nuri Şahin struck a incredible dipping free-kick from twenty-three metres into the back of the net to double the advantage. With the match no longer in question, Felipe Santana redirected Şahin's corner in with nineteen minutes left to make it 3-0. Not done for the day Alexander Frei accepted a long pass from Kevin-Prince Boateng before pounding the ball past KSC 'keeper Markus Miller.

BVB injury update
Die Schwarzgelben injury situation has taken a turn for the worse.
Team physician Dr. Markus Braun, confirmed that Mats Hummels will be out for four weeks with a torn ligament in his right ankle. The nineteen year-old German U-21 defender started the Vfl match but was replaced by Robert Kovac at the break after suffering the injury. Unfortunately BVB will additionally be without Alexander Frei for two weeks with a similar injury. Like Mats Hummels, the Swiss international started the Vfl match but was substituted with nineteen minutes remaining.
If their is a reason for optimism, it is that Jakub Blaszczykowski's surgery to repair a broken nose was successful. The tough-as-nails Polish international hasn't missed anytime and Jürgen Klopp is hopeful that he will be available for the weekends tilt against Hamburger SV. Given Kuba's past history is dealing with pain it will take quite an effort to keep him out of the lineup.
