Timişoara returned to the winning column with a 1-0 hard fought victory over Oţelul Galaţi. The victory brings Gabi Balint's side to within four points of Dinamo Bucureşti as Liga 1 enters the final four weeks of the campaign.
The leagues top scorer, Romanian international Gigi Bucur broke the deadlock midway of the half as he out dueled Galaţi defender Sergiu Costin for a long ball on the right, turned and drove the ball with this left foot to the inside post.
On Sunday Timişoara heads to Bucureşti to face Dinamo whilst Oţelul Galaţi welcomes Unirea Urziceni.

Dinamo Bucureşti defeats Oţelul Galaţi 1-0
Dinamo Bucureşti maintained its two point lead on Unirea Urziceni with a narrow 1-0 victory over Oţelul Galaţi. The victory extends the Roş-albii winning streak to four as they ready for Friday's battle against rivals Steaua Bucureşti.
The matches lone goal came eleven minutes before the break as Claudiu Niculescu continues his resurgent play with Dinamo as he split the defenders to play Ionel Dănciulescu through the right channel, with the captain in Bogdan Lobonţ's absence, driving the ball to the top left corner from ten metres.

CFR Cluj held to draw by Oţelul Galaţi
CFR Cluj dropped important points in their race to successfully defending their championship as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Oţelul Galaţi. The result, Cluj's second successive draw, drops them seven points off the top spot with seven weeks remaining in the campaign.
With four minutes left in the opening half Gabriel Mureşan was shown a straight red forcing Cluj to play a man down for the balance of the match. On the resulting free-kick former Litex Lovech-man Zhivko Zhelev gave Galaţi the lead as he struck a free-kick from just outside the area and took a helping deflection off the wall and into the net. Three minutes past the hour in a fast counter-attack led by Sebastián Dubarbier, Yssouf Koné received the ball on his left and sent the ball in from twelve metres.

Oţelul Galaţi defeats Farul Constanţa 2-0
Oţelul Galaţi increased Farul 's relegation concerns with a 2-0 defeat. Laurenţiu Iorga broke the deadlock for Galaţi a minute past the hour mark as he split Constanţa's defenders and drove the ball in off the far left post. John Ibeh added an insurance goal with fourteen minutes remaining as he drove the ball to the left corner from the edge of the area.
On Saturday Oţelul Galaţi face a difficult task as they travel to face defending champions CFR Cluj. Farul Constanţa is equally troublesome as they welcome a super-charged Dinamo Bucureşti who are coming 5-0 devouring of Gloria Bistriţa.
