Heerenveen is here!

For those unfamiliar with SC Heerenveen it hails from the beautiful pastoral northern region of the Netherlands and defying its modest stature in financial resources is a consistent top performer domestically and stands proudly in European competition. Additionally for those who travel to matches around the world I think it is safe to say that a visit to Abe Lenstra Stadion will not only leave you a fan of the club but of the region.

After finishing fifth last year and qualifying for the UEFA Cup, Heerenveen has been a model of consistency and are presently fifth in the table with nineteen points. In his first full year at the helm, manager Trond Sollied had pushed the attack forward with some very exciting results including a 5-2 destruction of Ajax but additionally they have been exposed the worst defending in the Eredivisie. As Heerenveen drives forward in what looks to be a very wide-open race, particularly with defending champions PSV playing very "un-PSV like, if the back-line gets cleared-up the hardware could be in sight. Presently in the midst of the three-match unbeaten streak that started with 3-3 draw to AZ, they have defeated ADO and FC Utrecht in successive weeks.

Join me this Saturday in support as travels to Enschede to face Twente and once again, welcome!
