Following interviews of Claude Makélélé and Ludovic Giuly released on the clubs web-site a number of questions regarding the future with Rouge et Bleu have been raised. This has been picked-up in a number of reports and in an effort to cull the tide of discontent, a cursory review of the actual interview should provide solace to Parisians.
Pertaining to Claude Makélélé, the captain reaffirmed his long-term intentions saying:
"My objective is to stay at the club as long as possible. That was one of my goals when I joined PSG. The main objective was to give as much as possible on the pitch and also give other big-name players the desire to wear a PSG shirt one day."
With regards to Ludovic Giuly, the thirty-two year old striker commented on the change of upper management as well as Paul Le Guen's status:
"I came here to build something with Charles and Mr. Bazin. Charles is no longer here, and we don't know if the coach or the players who are out of contract are going to stay.
"Abroad, everyone knows what they're going to do by February. Today, there are lots of question marks over the rest of the season and the years to come. Players like myself or Claude have accepted the responsibility of signing here. Now it's up to the club to accept theirs, because things cannot go on like this.
"I think I'll go and see Mr. Bazin in a month to talk about what he wants to do. A decision will have to be taken quickly as the season will be over in two months, and we'll know for which competitions we have qualified."
There is no reason for this to cause any alarms lest anyone ignore the realities of the worlds financial meltdown. PSG has like other clubs went through its share of financial concerns and well positioned for the future. While certain players, most notably Mateja Kežman, are unlikely to return to Paris next year there is no reason to believe the club is not interested in keeping Ludovic Giuly in les Rouge et Bleu.
