Litex Lovech to defend Bulgarian cup following 1-0 defeat of Minyor Pernik

Defending Bulgarian Cup champions Litex Lovech advanced to the finals with a close 1-0 victory over Minyor Pernik.

For Dimitar Aleksiev's Pernik side, promotion to the top flight A PFG (А ПФГ) in Bulgaria has been difficult as they are only a point above relegation but they came out big against Litex with an impressive disciplined style. However four minutes before the hour mark Sandrinho played Krum Bibishkov through the left channel with the striker pounding the ball in from fourteen metres in the matches lone goal

Litex Lovech will face "Cinderella story" Pirin Blagoevgrad who following their defeat of CKSA Sofia, neatly dispatched Levski Sofia 1-0.

CFR Cluj held to draw by Oţelul Galaţi

CFR Cluj dropped important points in their race to successfully defending their championship as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Oţelul Galaţi. The result, Cluj's second successive draw, drops them seven points off the top spot with seven weeks remaining in the campaign.

With four minutes left in the opening half Gabriel Mureşan was shown a straight red forcing Cluj to play a man down for the balance of the match. On the resulting free-kick former Litex Lovech-man Zhivko Zhelev gave Galaţi the lead as he struck a free-kick from just outside the area and took a helping deflection off the wall and into the net. Three minutes past the hour in a fast counter-attack led by Sebastián Dubarbier, Yssouf Koné received the ball on his left and sent the ball in from twelve metres.

The defending champions Cluj return to play as they welcome Dinamo Bucureşti on Sunday whilst Oţelul Galaţi faces Steaua Bucureşti
