Has Neven Subotić decided?
Born in the former Republic of Yugoslavia Neven Subotić has apparently made the intensely watched decision to play for Serbia. The matter garnered a great deal of interest given its unique situation and his representation for American U-17 and U-20 sides. The murky situation started with Neven's family fleeing the civil wars of his birth-place at two years of age for Germany and then immigrating to the United States when he was eleven. While joining FSV Mainz in 2005 he also accepted call-ups for the US U-17 squad and later the U-20 but later decided that he would prefer to represent Germany. With the recent change to FIFA's rulings on nationality that was no longer necessary and he would have to decide between Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the U.S. While he is presently not on the White Eagles squad list for their upcoming friendly, he is expected to join them for their next match.
