Newcastle revealed that Joey Barton will be out for the next eight weeks with a tear to the medial ligament of his right knee. The injury occurred in the seventeenth minutes of this weekends match against Wigan at St James' Park following a challenge with Lee Cattermole.Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear said of the injury:
"It's a major setback for Joey at a time when all the players and everyone at the club is getting behind him and I'm bitterly disappointed for him but he has the character to come through this.
