Porto stuns Dynamo Kyiv with comeback

From the jaws of defeat, Porto capped a stunning late comeback to defeat Dynamo Kyiv 2-1 in Champions League action. The victory sends Porto up to second in second in Group G and resurrects their qualifying chances for the knockout stage. It however looked far from good for the Dragões as they lacked a spark for most of the match. Dynamo took the lead twenty-one minutes from the start with Ukraine international Artem Milevskiy scoring from ten meters after collecting a pass from Tiberiu Ghioane. Porto's lifeless attack suggested defeat was imminent and seemed more intent on defending. After the break Hulk, the ex-Tokyo Verdy man, came in for Tarik Sektioui and for a short time Porto appeared to stir in the attack. Yet by the hour mark Dynamo appeared to make the necessary adjustments and threats were modest at best. Then with twenty-one minutes remaining, just as local product Pelé came in for Tricolorii capped Cristian Săpunaru, Raul Meireles struck a free-kick from twenty-two meters out that Rolando charged into the box and headed it powerfully into the net to level the match. The closing stages became a mad scramble with Ognjen Vukojević hitting the post at the eighty-eighth minute and attempt by Oleksandr Aliev that was just shy however on the counter Lisandro López in a brilliant run, crossed to fellow Albicelestes Lucho González who converted with the winning score two minutes into added-time.

This sets up a massive match against Fenerbahçe at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on November 25 which could decide whether Porto advances to the next round. Disturbing for the Dragões is that with Lucho González' celebration he pulled his shirt-off and received his second yellow-card and is now excluded from that match.
