"This is the biggest disappointment of the season”

PSV's miserable week continued with a 1-0 loss to N.E.C. in Nijmegen. Mario Been's completely dictated the match and restricted the Eredivisie defending champions attack to only a few very modest efforts. The lone goal of the match came twelve minutes after the start, resulting off Lasse Schøne's corner that was flicked on and came to captain Peter Wisgerhof near the goal-mouth and was promptly put into the back of the net. Behind a goal, the PSV attack offered little and slowly the match drifted away sending Hubb Steven's another disappointing loss.

After the match, the PSV manager commented:

"This is the biggest disappointment of the season"

"PSV put in a poor display tonight. N.E.C. threatened from set pieces, although we told our players to be wary of the threat posed by them. It is hard to get a result in Nijmegen and I cannot but conclude that N.E.C. deserved their victory. We tried to make amends after the break, but we just were not good enough. The European midweek clash has been physically demanding, but it should not serve as an excuse for our below-par performance."

The loss sends PSV to fourth in the Eredivisie table, four points behind table-leader NAC Breda.
