UEFA Cup: CSKA Moscow v Feyenoord

Valery Gazzaev's CSKA Moscow travels to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord of the Eredivisie in the UEFA Cup. Koni's remarkable thirteen match unbeaten streak came to a crashing end as they lost to Spartak Moscow this past week but confidence remains high.

Feyenoord are having less than a confidence building campaign with only two victories in nine matches. Injuries are definitely a debilitating issue and against CSKA they will be without Andwele Slory, Ron Vlaar, Jon Dahl Tomasson, Denny Landzaat and the Canadian who doesn't play for Canada, Jonathan de Guzman.

Koni is chomping at the bit for this match. While they are closing on a Champions League bid for next year domestically, right now there is no denying that they are capable of dominating their group and going all the way to Şükrü Saracoğlu in May. They are completely healthy and motivated to impress, particularly after last weeks stumble. While many will be watching the flourish of Vágner Love and Alan Dzagoev and core of CSKA starts with a grouping of Russian capped stars, 'keeper Igor Akinfeev and back-line brothers Aleksei Berezutskiy and Vasili Berezutskiy.

I will report on the match once it concludes.
