a perfect start to PSV's season

PSV started the defense of their Eredivisie title with a resounding, never-in-doubt 5-1 humiliation of FC Utrecht on the strength of Ibrahim Afelley and Danny Koevermans both scoring twice with Nordin Amrabat adding another.

Hubb Steven's squad controlled the match start to finish, executing passes and dictating play without virtually any opposition. In defense of FC Utrecht, they were missing a number of players and unfortunately their bench offered little to control PSV and this had all the makings of significantly worse blowout as Balázs Dzsudzsák and Mike Zonneveld looked capable of scoring on a number of occasions. Ibrahim Afellay and Nordin Amrabat were absolutely stunning, creating attacking scenarios and solidifying why they are so highly regarded in the Football world. Either could be considered "man-of-the-match", however in a 5-1 dismantling, I think it must be shared within the entire team.

After the international break, PSV will face Sparta Rotterdam on September 13 at Philips Stadion.
