Rangers win double

The Rangers trophy case continues to expand as they collected the Scottish Cup after defeating Falkirk 1-0 at Hampden Park. Along with the Scottish Premier League title, the season wrought with so many troubles has turned quickly for the Gers.

The winning mark came from Nacho Novo a minute after the break as he collected a throw-in from Saša Papac and sent a dipping effort to the far right corner from outside the box. The goal seemed to have caught Falkirk 'keeper Dani Mallo off the line and shocked by the turn and half-volley strike. The lead would certainly leave Falkirk supporters feel hard done by as they were the debatably the dominant side in the opening forty-five minutes. However after the break, Walter Smith ushered in Nacho Novo for Kris Boyd and the result was immediate. For the balance of the match fortune fall the Rangers way as Falkirk threatened on numerous occasions, even having a goal called by with a debatable offside call. However it was not be for the Falkirk side and Walter Smith and company completed the miraculous double.

Rangers win SPL

The sweet taste of winning the championship can be claimed by the Rangers following their resounding 3-0 victory over Dundee United. With the victory the Rangers end their three year drought of the title via a stunning turnaround during their campaign.

If champions are born through adversity, the Rangers answered that call loud and clear. Through a year of much torment and surrounding with a heavy weight of financial problems lingering, the Gers fought back to enter the final weekend with tight lead over Celtic. Still there was the final match day, a nerve racking test against Dundee United in which only a victory is acceptable.

Any questions were answered without haste as the Rangers came out with blood-thirsty intent. However five-minutes in the Rangers had their lead as Steven Davis linked the ball to Kris Boyd, whose misfire was turned in by Kyle Lafferty from close range. Further changes came and went unfullfilled but just before the break the margin was doubled as Pedro Mendes pounded the ball in from twenty metres after Saša Papac free-kick was blocked by the wall. If there was any doubt to the outcome, seven minutes after the re-start Steven Whittaker crossed to Kris Boyd for a close range finish. As time ticked down, the Rangers incredible comeback to the campaign was dotted with the SPL championship.

Reaching the pinnacle of the SPL cannot be debated however for the Rangers it could very well have a massive positive impact upon their financial situation. That of-course is for another time as celebration has begun as Walter Smith's men can hold their heads high as Scottish Premier League champions.

Rangers SPL title hope

The final weekend of each campaign is often the judge of a teams claret. Do they possess the mettle to press on against the stresses and strains of a full year, to close-out an opportunity for greatness or will they wilt under pressure. This is surely the road the Rangers go down on Sunday as a victory over Dundee United will guarantee they win the SPL crown.

Two points about Celtic, the Rangers can end their rivals three reign of the SPL with a victory. Fortune has certainly fallen the Gers way as their tumultuous season, starting with the fallout from the loss to FBK Kaunas in Champions League qualifying to the endless financial rumours. However a late season swoon by Celtic opened the door for the Rangers and they have rarely faltered.

However the task will be great for the Rangers as Dundee Utd can book a date to the Europa League with a point. In the end this comes down the the classic test, two sides with much on the line going toe-to-toe. It is a well-worn story-line but in matches such as these but the victor will be the side who "out-wants" the other.

Rangers defeat Aberdeen 2-1

The Rangers put pressure on Celtic in the race for the SPL championship with a 2-1 victory over Aberdeen at Ibrox. The victory provides the Gers a three point lead on Celtic with the defending champions facing Hibernian Sunday afternoon, however the goal production is certainly disappointing given the goal differential could prove to decide the final position.

From the disappointing mid-week draw to Hibs, Walter Smith included Saša Papac, Kyle Lafferty and Kenny Miller into the starting eleven. After a series of fine attacking advances by the Gers, Charlie Mulgrew was shown a straight red-card for violent conduct or at least intent for violent conduct because contact was minimal with Kyle Lafferty likely pursuing his SAG card shortly given his brilliant thespian abilities. Presuming the calls needed to be "evened-up" Madjid Bougherra was sent off five minutes before the break in another harsh red-card. After the restart, with the referee assured he was the centre of attention, the Rangers continued to with a modest edge in momentum but were far from finding the mark. At the hour Barry Ferguson returned to the fold coming in for Pedro Mendes and only five minutes later the Gers had the lead as Richard Foster redirected Kenny Miller's cross in as a own goal. Two minutes later, Nacho Novo's corner was sent in by Kenny Miller to provide the Rangers a goal margin. However in dire need to closing down Celtic lead in goal differential, the Gers were denied by Aberdeen and with thirteen minutes remaining in regulation Michael Paton accepted Gary McDonald's provision before sending in.

The Rangers await next Sunday's final match against Dundee United with a very likely goal outpouring needed.

too late for Kirk Broadfoot as Rangers meet Aberdeen on Saturday

Following Rangers draw to Hibernian on Wednesday they have dropped from the top spot of the SPL and trail Celtic by a two-goal differential. As Walter Smith and company go forward in the final two matches the task is not simply to win out but layer on goals.

While some of the news dealt with the hellacious issue of Kirk Broadfoot's "injury" when he was scalded by poached when opening the microwave door, the Gers will need to find a mental toughness to power through an attacking binge over the next two matches. Starting with Saturday's difficult test against Aberdeen at Ibrox they are in the unusual position of not only playing for three points but to continue to press for a full ninety minutes.

Although Kirk Broadfoot was already excluded prior to his dreadful culinary injury and Andrius Velička will miss due to illness the Gers have Kenny Miller, Saša Papac and Barry Ferguson available.

Prior to Saturdays match, Walter Smith said of the Dons:

"Now we have to concentrate on Aberdeen but it won't be easy. They've been difficult opponents for us over the period of time I've been back at the club.

"It will a hard game but we have to approach it looking to take advantage of the fact we're at home and try to win the game."

Of Wednesday's missed opportunity he added:

"If you look at the way we approached the match the other night, I didn't think there was that much wrong with it.

"We could have been doing with being a bit brighter in the first half but we imposed ourselves in the second.

"Of course, we left ourselves a little bit open with the way we played after the break and Hibs had an opportunity to go 2-0 up before we scored.

"But any team that has to score goals is going to taker risks. This weekend we have to be positive and if we play well enough, we'll hopefully win the match.

"We've only lost one league game since the turn of the year and we go into the match with a level of confidence."

Rangers held to draw by Hibs

After winning last weeks Old Firm derby the Rangers stared down the path of the remaining campaign with a simple fact, win-out the last three matches and the SPL crown was theirs. While the likes of Hibernian, Aberdeen and Dundee United are certainly not a easy route to trod on, with the championship on the line it is a test that those worthy of the hardware must be able to close out. Unfortunately that "easy route" was not followed and the Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Hibernian. The draw pushes Celtic back on top via a two goal differential opening up a truly remarkable fight for the crown in the remaining weeks.

With Andrius Velička back into the starting grid due to a flare-up in Kenny Miller's hamstring problem the Gers showed early attacking promise. After early chances by Pedro Mendes and Kris Boyd were squandered Derek Riordan gave Hibs the shocking lead four minutes before the break. Receiving the ball from Steven Fletcher at the top of the box, he created the smallest amount of the space before sending a pinpoint touch effort into the top right corner of the net. At the break Walter Smith summoned Kyle Lafferty and Nacho Novo to spur the attack on and while the chances were forthcoming, finishing was painfully off-course. Nacho Novo had two strong chances somehow escape the net and with twenty minutes on the clock he seemed to have put the ball over the line before being played being played back in by Ross Chisholm with the referee waiving the play on. Finally with ten minutes on the clock Nacho Novo provided the equalizer as he poached on a close range rebound but despite the Gers attempts the winner, it wasn't to be and the match ended with a draw.

The Rangers return to play on Saturday against Aberdeen.

Rangers come out on top of Old Firm

Against all odds, the Rangers defeated Celtic 1-0 to take a two point lead in the SPL race with three weeks remaining in the campaign. The result was as outstanding as the comeback in which Celtic appeared to be sailing clear in the early spring. Given the split schedule the Scottish Premier League uses the Gers remaining schedule is far from an easy one but they are definitely in the pole position to end Celtic three year hold on the crown.

The only significant change to the lineup was Kenny Miller's return to the starting eleven with Lithuanian international Andrius Velička pushed to the bench. The addition of Scottish international to the fold proved vital as his attacking pulse showed early on and ultimately it was his cross that led to Stephen Davis plunking in the winner eight minutes before the break.

To the surprise of many the pacing of the Old Firm derby stepped away from the expected plow like approach and was decidedly up-tempo. With both sides choosing to "win" the match, opportunities began to emerge with Shunsuke Nakamura forcing the best out of by Gers 'keeper Neil Alexander. Moments later a Steven Whittaker attempt rang off the post and the back and forth pace continued until seven minutes past the half-hour when Kris Boyd's provision to Kenny Miller resulted in fine cross being sent pass Celtic's Artur Boruc by Steven Davis. Prior to the break Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink came within a whisper of equalizing the match however Steven Davis proved to be up to the task on the other end as he cleared the former PSV man's header off the line. After the break Kris Boyd's misfortune in the Old Firm as he was unable to close the day out on two separate occasions yet Celtic equally were denied by a morsel of fate. As the match turned to this final quarter-hour Aiden McGeady beaded down on the leveler but his effort rattled the woodwork before falling to safety. Without further the mark concluded with Rangers victorious and head towards Hibernian on Wednesday with the championship before them.

Rangers chance for the crown

Put aside the tactical reviews, the endless debates of finite details as there is one simple fact on Saturday that bypasses all others. Celtic visits Ibrox with the SPL championship on the line. One point behind Celtic, the Rangers have a shot at glory with a victory. Although the three remaining matches of the campaign are far from easy, the season comes down to Saturday's test.

While the financial future of the Rangers is far from a cheery tale, Saturday is "personal", a chance to race towards the crown with the added pleasure of wrestling it from Celtic. As can be expected the Ibrox faithful will sing out and urge their forces on in a highly spirited Old Firm derby.

On the injury front Walter Smith as Saša Papac and Madjid Bougherra although Kirk Broadfoot is unavailable. Kris Boyd has been scoring at remarkable pace and will look to unlock his troubles against the Bhoys. Walter Smith's attacking options remain wide open as both Kenny Miller and Kyle Lafferty are available but Andrius Velička has been unstoppable over the last month.

Rangers keep pace with Celtic

The Rangers keep pace with Celtic with a tight 2-0 victory over Hearts. The victory leaves the Gers a single-point behind their rivals as they head to this Saturday's Old Firm clash that could decide the SPL crown.

In-form Andrius Velička continued his place with Kris Boyd up top, along with Maurice Edu continuing to grow and develop in the midfield. Hearts were in no mood to concede a goal and despite a perfect opportunity presented to Kris Boyd early, the strikers attempt wasn't worthy of the netting and held back by 'keeper Marian Kello. Opportunities came and went without a mark but as the clock ticked down before the break, the deadlock was broken as Steven Smith's deep in-swinging corner was headed from the back post by Kris Boyd to the the Lithuanian international Andrius Velička to close out. Of the match highlights, far and away was the return for injury of Kyle Lafferty entering for Steven Smith with a quarter-hour remaining. With regulation time nearing end Kenny Miller's powerful cross from the left was headed in by Kris Boyd to bring the match to its 2-0 final score.

Rangers advance to Scottish Cup final

The Rangers hopes of winning the Scottish Cup continued as they deal St Mirren 3-0. With the result the Gers will feature in the finals against either Falkirk or Dunfermline on 30 May.

Of the many highlights to the match, one of the most notable came with nine minutes remaining as nineteen year old Northern Ireland international Andrew Little made his debut for the Rangers. The Gers took the lead a single minute into the match as Andrius Velička continued his scoring streak as he got on the end of a loose ball from Kris Boyd's attempt and sent it to the back of the net. Down by one, St Mirren didn't back down and despite the Gers flirting with additional advances, the match went to the break without further mark. Finally six-minutes past the hour Steven Davis ripped a pass through the Saints defenders with Kris Boyd pounding the ball into the net to make it 2-0. Now reeling St Mirren were floundering and three minutes later Kenny Miller brought the match to a final 3-0 scoreline with once again Steven Davis initiating the goal.

The Rangers return to SPL play on 3 May as they welcome Hearts to Ibrox.

Rangers continue in hunt for SPL crown

The Rangers maintained pace with Celtic in their quest for the Scottish Premier League championship with a 3-2 defeat of Hibernian. Due the SPL's unique "split" near the seasons end the match had a peculiar tinge to it as regardless of Sundays outcome Hibs cannot finish outside of the bottom half of the table.

With Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor not selected to Walter Smith's squad, the Gers once again paired Andrius Velička with Kris Boyd up-top and Maurice Edu continued his role in the midfield. The match started with a quick up-beat for the Rangers and Steven Whittaker volleyed a loose ball in from just outside the area only two minutes after the start. After a number of squandered chances by the Gers, the match was leveled four minutes past the half hour when Lewis Stevenson cross was nodded in by Steven Fletcher. Following the equalizer opportunities to score slowed with the next strike coming seven minutes after the restart when Steven Whittaker found Andrius Velička with the Lithuanian international finishing perfectly. With seventeen minutes remaining Maurice Edu proved himself to be opportunistic as he latched onto a rebound from close range to give Walter Smith's men a two goal lead.
John Rankin ripped the ball into back of the net from twenty-plus metres with six minutes remaining but it was as close as Hibs would get and the match concluded with the Rangers winning 3-2. Pleased with the victory, all credit is due to Hibernian who with little to play for but a mighty effort forward.

Rangers hopes for Championship continue

The Rangers hope for the SPL championship found a new life as a 3-1 victory over Motherwell in conjunction with Hearts holding Celtic to a draw as catapulted them to within a single point of Gordon Strachan's side.

Laden with injuries, Walter Smith surprised the Ibrox faithful as Andrius Velička received a rare start. The start for the Lithuanian international proved fortuitous as only two minutes-in he pounced on a loose box from Kris Boyd's header and sent the ball in. Eight minutes later the margin was doubled as Steven Whittaker's long ball found Kris Boyd with the striker driving the ball in from just twenty metres. Any thoughts of an easy afternoon in Glasgow were interrupted eight minutes before the break as John Sutton probing effort from twenty-three metres quickly found the back of the net. Opportunities came and went for the Rangers without a mark but five minutes past the hour they were the beneficiary of a call that many will question as Brian McLean was adjudged to bringing down Pedro Mendes in the area and the spot was pointed to. Kris Boyd quickly converted to restore the two goal margin. While Rangers looked to add to the lead, the day concluded without further incident with a 3-1 victory for Walter Smith's side.

The Gers return to action next Sunday against Hibernian.

Rangers defeat St Mirren 2-1

Without the services Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor under suspension, the Rangers maintained their winning form without the disgraced stars defeating St Mirren 2-1.

With Neil Alexander between the woodwork and Maurice Edu taking the ex-captains spot, the Gers put forth a solid lineup and very likely will be a key component in next years campaign. The Gers took the lead early with Kris Boyd finding the net at the twelfth minute
as Pedro Mendes linked up with Saša Papac before the Bosnian supplied the striker the opportunity to close from the six yard box. The lead didn't come without a mighty piece of work as St Mirren are a stubborn side but only seven minutes later the young American Maurice Edu added the second. However before the second goal Nacho Novo came in for young Mr. Edu's countryman DaMarcus Beasley who injured a rib and will miss this weekends clash against Motherwell. That withstanding nineteen minutes after the opening whistle the Gers had a two goal lead as the American international nodded in Pedro Mendes corner. Up by two the celebration was cooled a morsel as Christian Dailly was summoned in for Saša Papac with nine minutes left in the half after a ankle injury. Ibrox will be backed a morsel tighter on Saturday because joining DaMarcus in the stands will be Saša as the Rangers number whittle down. In an odd twist of trivia, that like most trivia isn't all that important (hence it's "trivial") another MLS alumni cast his name on the score-sheet, this from Andy Dorman eleven minutes into the half to cut the margin by one. Via the work of veteran Craig Dargo's provision St Mirren made in 2-1 but despite a hearty effort, the Rangers curmudgeonly defending saved the victory.

With the campaign nearing conclusion the Rangers welcome Motherwell to Ibrox this Saturday afternoon.

Rangers v St Mirren match preview

As Walter Smith leads his Rangers against St Mirren in a mid-week SPL clash this Wednesday evening, it will come with a great deal of concern. While the controversy over Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor is a foul dish far from fully digested they go up against a side in fighting with everything it can muster to save relegation.

Gus MacPherson will be looking for his side to summon the same strength as this past October when then sent the Rangers back from Paisley with a 1-0 defeat. A clear point in the Gers season that as they look back on could be the crucial points that cost them the championship. For St Mirren, who hold the narrowest of three point margins over Falkirk, points today could be deciding factor in survival or condemnation.

Realizing the opposition's motivation, Walter Smith said:

"We know what they can do. They're always extremely well organised and we'll get the same type of game from them as we did at Love Street."

For the match Kirk Broadfoot and Kenny Miller are both still out with injuries whilst their host will do without Hugh Murray, who is in the sin-bin as well Tom Brighton, Franco Miranda, Stephen O'Donnell, Steven Robb,Chris Smith and Dennis Wyness.

Rangers defeat Falkirk 1-0

Following a controversy laden week, the Rangers turned in a positive direction with a 1-0 victory over Falkirk. While few would call a close victory over relegation threatened side a cause for celebration, after the Ferguson - McGregor debacle, the result is received warmly. The result leaves the Gers climb three points Celtic with seasons end fast approaching.

With the changes veteran Neil Alexander took McGregor's spot between the posts with David Weir taking the armband. Important to note, young John Fleck returned to the starting fold after an unexplained drop of recent. While the Gers attack was far less than exemplary throughout the full ninety minutes, they started with a flourish netting the winning strike in the ninth minute.

In a clever build-up of play Pedro Mendes and Nacho Novo linked up with the later crossing the ball back to Kris Boyd to send to the back of the net from five metres. Up by one the Rangers attack was drained to a lifeless trickle with the rare opportunities perishing with a dreadful final touch. Falkirk, locked in a death spiral towards relegation, punched back but couldn't find a clear break through. Burton O'Brien and Carl Finnigan came within a whisper of leveling after the restart and try as they may, Falkirk couldn't find the final touch and the Rangers claimed a 2-1 victory.

Following the match Walter Smith summed up the day perfectly:

"It's the most important thing in any football match to win and that was the case today.

"I was a little bit disappointed with our possession throughout the match and we were really untidy.

"We have, I feel, been playing some good football recently but right from the very start here, we didn't have any sustained possession of the ball.

"We gave up a number of good opportunities, particularly in the first half, and never managed to make anything of them apart from our goal early on.

"Overall though, we are delighted to have won. I don't think it would be unexpected for the players to be affected by what has happened this week but they are a resilient group."

Rangers v Falkirk match preview

As the Rangers return to SPL action this Sunday against relegation threatened Falkirk, it comes after an anything but calm International break. Whilst most clubs will use the period to regenerate their side, consider strategy and so-forth, Walter Smith and company have been forced to deal with the scandalous behaviour of Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor during duty for Scotland.

The situation is far from comforting as given the clubs already extraordinary financial problems they are now dealing with a public relations nightmare whereby the two have been seen to disrespect Scotland. Handled well by the front office, Ferguson has been stripped of his captaincy and both players have been suspended by the club to the maximum amount of two weeks. Given the litany of financial problems the Rangers are facing it will take the two a highly concerted public relations effort not to be dispatched at the first chance.

This is certainly not solidifying moment for the club in the chase of the SPL championship but does put Walter Smith into a unique opportunity to motivate his men with the honour of the Rangers at stake. For the match the Gers will be additionally pressed with the loss of Kenny Miller and Kyle Lafferty.

The Scottish FA leads

In a moment that is decades overdue, the Scottish FA has stepped in and reaffirmed the extraordinary honour to represent your country. Following Rangers' Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor actions at the most recent match against Iceland, the Scottish FA has announced that the two are banned for life.

It is not only a fair judgement but one the entire sport should commend the Scottish FA for. Leadership is a lonely walk done the darkest of road at times but Scotland has just set the tone for others to follow.

Through the past few decades I have seen this sport go through countless changes. Many for the positive but all too frequently it is has ripped the very soul from the game. Club Football has been ruined where at least two generations have no notion of what that refers to has, all the while players make ridiculous amounts of money and foreign ownership decimates the sport one step at a time. While I have little hopes of any of these matters reversing, thankfully the Scottish FA has stepped in and made the statement for all Scottish players that there is no greater honour.

For Ferguson and McGregor, let them remember this. Let them look at those photos for the balance of their days and realize what they discarded. I am sorry that two grown men had to learn this at this stage of their lives but that is unfortunately one of the many weaknesses in this beautiful game that turned into a business. It will be a painful reminder through their lives but in the end, I am hopeful many will finally understand the extraordinary brilliance of representing your homeland.

Barry Ferguson's future with Rangers cloudy

Barry Ferguson's future with the Rangers has been clouded as he has the club has ended his captaincy reign. The move comes after his highly disrespectful behaviour in representing Scotland that started with a late evening drinking bout with Allan McGregor.

Following Scotland's victory over Iceland on Wednesday night, the thirty-one year old midfielder who has nearly three-hundred appearances for the Gers, was photographed flashing a "V" sign. More than anything that apparently set Walter Smith off resulting in both Ferguson and McGregor being sent home from practice.

The club is expected to suspend both for the maximum allowable amount of two weeks and in conjunction with the financial disarray the envelopes the Gers balance sheet, it is very likely that both will be up for the taking.

In a lengthy statement issued on the clubs web-site, Walter Smith said:

"They were sent home from training today and they will return later when they will meet Martin Bain, our chief executive, and the Club will make a statement after that.

"It's not something that we would have wanted but the timing of it is not in our own control. We have to react to the circumstances and it's regrettable that it has happened at this time.

"Obviously what happened last Sunday with Scotland players is regrettable. Then we had an incident on Wednesday with two players from our own club and that's what we have had to act on.

"We have to respect the fact that George (Burley)will handle the international part of it but certainly from our own point of view it is regrettable that we had a few players involved in that situation.

"It was the acts of the players that caused us to move on this situation more than anything else.

"The disciplinary aspect of what happened at the weekend is something for George to act on. We are unhappy with the situation and any manager who had players involved in that would be the same.

"The most disappointing aspect for me was the subsequent reaction on the bench and from the club's point of view I don't think that was a good image to portray.

"I would feel it would be embarrassing for the players when they saw the images portrayed the next morning and that relates to your club as well and that was disappointing.

"I'm disappointed that we're having to take the action that we are taking. We don't want to do it but we have to react to a situation that the Club has been put in, in the sense that it is an embarrassment to the Club.

"These are not actions that we have taken lightly because it doesn't help us from a football point of view but we had to take them.

"We hope that this does not affect us adversely in the Championship and we hope that we have the players to cover but we will just have to wait and see.

"Both players have been playing regularly and both are good players so it's disappointing that we have had to take the decision that we have done."

shocking behaviour by Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor

Within the world of Football there is no greater honour then representing your homeland. The honour, regardless of your countries prominence in the world ranking, is a defining moment in your career. A players approach to such an honour speaks volumes of the man.

With this in mine, Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor have slighted their names with despicable conduct. Per various reports the two breached codes of conduct drinking late in hotel before Scotland's match against Iceland. The Scottish Football Association later confirmed the breach of team discipline, noted it was "dealt with within the squad" and further announced that, "due to a breach of team discipline, they will not start".

Rangers championship hopes fade with draw to Hearts

Hopes of overcoming Celtic for the SPL championship took a turn for the worse as the Rangers played draw to Hearts to a 2-2 draw at Ibrox. With Madjid Bougherra and Kirk Broadfoot both out due to injury there was concern for the Rangers midfield and Walter Smith choose to keep enterprising young John Fleck out of the starting eleven.

The Gers started fast with Steven Whittaker sending an early prospect but only nine minutes after the whistle Kyle Lafferty accepted DaMarcus Beasley' provision before pounding the ball in. Efforts came and went but just past the half hour the goal scorer was stretchered off with a injury to his right foot. Just before the break Pedro Mendes dispatched the ball to Barry Ferguson who sent the ball through a maze of players in. At the restart Hearts switched from a 4-5-1 to a 4-5-2 bringing in up and comer Calum Elliot at striker. Just past the hour those changes paid off for Hearts as former Benfica man Bruno Aguiar sent in a corner that Christos Karipidis sent in. Reeling from the goal, the Rangers were exposed in the counter two minutes later with a long pass from David Obua finding Calum Elliot to headed the ball back to Rubén Palazuelos, who subsequently finished from fifteen metres. Following the goal the Rangers were able to offer little in the hope that they fight find the winner and the match concluded with a cascade of jeers from a less than faithful crowd at Ibrox.

While I respect the hopes of fans for a championship, this is not the time to be sending the Gers off to a chorus of jeers and whistles. Solidarity and support are what is needed, particularly as the club goes through a very difficult series of financially based decisions this off-season.
