It's taken quite some time but finally the Rayados gave their supporters a glimpse of how good the club can be, with a resounding 2-0 victory over Santos at the Tecnológico en Monterrey.
With pinpoint accuracy William Paredes opened the scoring with a perfectly placed left footed strike. The Rayados continued to pressure and if it was not for stellar work of Oswaldo Sánchez, the score would have been much worse. Twenty-four minutes into the match, Santos efforts were challenged as Juan Pablo Rodríguez was red-carded. Excluding the later stages of the match, Santos scoring efforts were at an extreme premium. Finally Monterrey broke through the visitors defense, as Carlos Ochoa brought the match to its final 2-0 conclusion with a nice piece of skilled ball handling to the Santos goal.
With the international break Monterrey is not off till September 14 when they face Toluca.
