Man City v Aalborg BK match preview

After an extended break Manchester City return to action Thursday eventing against Aalborg BK in a UEFA Cup match at Eastlands. Mark Hughes side have been off for a just over a week after their thorough 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Magnus Pehrsson's Danish side advanced in the UEFA Cup with an impressive aggregate 6-1 destruction of Deportivo La Coruña. While coming off a disappointing 1-1 draw to FC Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga, they are mostly likely to deploy a 4-5-1 when visiting the Citizens using Luton Shelton as the sole striker in-front of superb midfielder. Veteran centre midfielder Thomas Augustinussen is offset by Andreas Johansson and the very exciting Danish prospect Thomas Enevoldsen.

Clearly with Man City's mid-table position in the Premier League there are no guarantee's that they can squeeze into a Europa League spot thus making this years competition a major priority. While the continuing success of Man Utd certainly opens up possible spots for European competition, Mark Hughes is be "all in" with the UEFA Cup. As of this time injury reports have yet to be released but once available I will update.
