Hoffenheim's horror show in the Rückrunde continued as they lost 4-0 to Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena on Saturday. The victory maintain's die Wölfe three point lead over closest rivals Bayern as they venture into the final four weeks of the campaign in search of their first Bundesliga crown.
Silenced the week before Bojan Prašnikar’s Energie Cottbus, Wolfsburg was in no mood for missed opportunities and after a scoreless opening hour, poured four goals in the final twenty-four minutes. After a series of modest opportunities fell short Edin Džeko littered the Hoffenheim goal three times starting six minutes past the hour as he accepted Zvjezdan Misimović's long pin-point pass and sent in from ten metres. Only eight minutes later the Bosnia and Herzegovina international scored again as he was the beneficiary of Grafite's perfect low cross from the bye-line to make it 2-0. Capping his goal-scoring day off he made it 3-0 with twelve minutes left as he volleyed in Grafite's diagonal floating cross to the back post. Grafite made it 4-0 from the spot with a minute remaining after Andreas Beck was adjudged to bringing down Marcel Schäfer in the area.
Wolfsburg now turns its attention to Saturday's massive test against Stuttgart next Saturday.
