Rotterdammers maintain undefeated streak

Feyenoord kept their Europa League hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over NAC Breda. The much needed three points came per second half goals by Georginio Wijnaldum and Jon Dahl Tomasson although it came at a cost as Kevin Hofland was lost to an early injury.

After an early chance by Roy Makaay went wide, NAC took control of the match. De Rotterdammers held NAC off the score sheet until three minutes were left in the opening half as Kees Kwakman was brought down in the area by Kelvin Leerdam and the spot was pointed to. Donny Gorter quickly converted and the hosts went to the break up by one. However that lead did not last long as four minutes after the restart Georginio Wijnaldum accepted Giovanni van Bronckhorst provision and drilled the ball into the net from twenty-five metres. A tough midfield battle ensued and both sides were barely able to create significant opportunities. With fourteen minutes remaining Leon Vlemmings looked towards his bench and called upon the talented Jordao Pattinama, two days shy of his twentieth birthday. Finally looking as if a draw was in the offing, Giovanni van Bronckhorst punished NAC with eight minutes remaining as he corralled an errant pass and provided Jon Dahl Tomasson the opportunity mid of the area and the Danish international made no mistake, giving Feyenoord the 2-1 victory.
