kämpferisch einwandfreien Mannschaftsleistung

The tombs of Bökelbergstadion shook once again as Borussia put forth a extraordinary team display defeating HSV 4-1 Saturday afternoon. Under Hans Meyer leadership and the loyal die Fohlen supporters, VfL has played with a relentless spirit, pride and courage since the start of the Rückrunde and clawed their way out of the table bottom. Their is much work still to be done but the line has been draw and the courageous fight of Borussia is undeniable.

With Tomáš Galásek back in the lineup the veteran once again held strong the VfL defending. Marko Marin was inspiring and wide attacks caused havoc with HSV. Twenty-four minutes in, as Borussia-Park filled with song, the Mannschaft capped play-maker accepted a long pass from Galásek and closing from the left he sent a chip over the keep to the Canadian Rob Friend to send in. However five minutes later Mladen Petrić canceled out the lead striking from the twelve metres out. However before the break Tobias Levels gave Borussia the lead again. Surging in on the 'keeper to the left his initial shot was blocked by Joris Mathijsen but he managed to send the rebound in with his left foot to take the 2-1 lead at the break.

VfL extended the lead nine minutes after the break as Roel Brouwers got on the end of Filip Daems cross and drove the ball in. A few minutes past the hour Karim Matmour raced into the box and a penalty was called after he was taken down from behind. Marco Marin calmly stepped up and as the ball nestled into the net making it 4-1, a victory was assured for Borussia. A few minutes later Oliver Neuville was brought in for Marco Marin as Hans Meyer locked down further HSV's advances.
