Wolfsburg close in on top spot with 1-0 victory over KSC

Wolfsburg continued its near perfect run since the start of the Rückrunde defeating Karlsruhe SC 1-0 at the Volkswagen Arena. With the victory die Wölfe are now firmly poised to fight for the Bundesliga championship as they are trail Hertha BSC whilst being tied with Hamburg, 1899 Hoffenheim and Bayern München.

Knowing the difficult task to come out with points in Wolfsburg, KSC coach Edmund Becker put together a brilliant tactical plan and handcuffed the hosts for the most part. Finally after having their attack firmly bolted down seven minutes before the break as Bosnia and Herzegovina striker Edin Džeko netted the matches only goal following a well pieced together provision of Zvjezdan Misimović and Grafite. KSC came within a whisper of equalizing the match six minutes after the break when Michael Mutzel's meandering effort was cleared off the line by Jan Šimůnek. For the balance of the afternoon, attempts were easily culled by Wolfsburg and the match concluded with a 1-0 victory.
