the Green Whites chance

After a number of disappointing losses the Green Whites have the perfect opportunity to redeem themselves as AC Milan visits Weserstadion in the UEFA Cup.

Following his undisciplined behaviour and subsequent suspension Diego returns and will need to pick up the sputtering Werder attack. Eager to play, he said:

"I am very happy that I can finally play again. There is nothing worse for a footballer than being fit and not being able to play because of a suspension.

"It is the perfect moment for this game. We are playing in a full stadium against a great team. I will give my best and hope to enjoy the game. If we can succeed in this match, it could be a good signal for the up-coming games in the Bundesliga

"Both teams have 50 percent chances. We won here against other big clubs such as Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter Milan. And we want to win against AC Milan as well. That would be very important for us.

"It will be very difficult. Milan has an excellent team. They are very offensive-minded, they have world class stars and also have great players in the defence. The Italians also play very defensively as well. We will not get a lot of chances to score. But if we get an opportunity, we have to convert it as cold as ice."

Thomas Schaaf lone issue is the loss of German international Torsten Frings with the self-proclaimed Special One without Andriy Shevchenko, Kaká, Alessandro Nesta and possibly David Beckham.

Klaus Allofs said of the UEFA Cup:

"The UEFA Cup is part of our second half of the season, and we want to perform well, just as we want to do in the DFB Cup. But we definitely don't view it as therapy for the Bundesliga."
