Marching on Together: Leeds v Scunthorpe match preview

Leeds welcome Scunthorpe United to Elland Road Saturday afternoon in a massive six-point affair. With a win the Whites could find themselves back into the drivers seat for a playoff spot and draw level with Oldham Athletic.

Simon Grayson will have Jermaine Beckford back in the lineup but Argentine maestro Lucciano Becchio is suspended. Robert Snodgrass is likely to get the starting nod although new signing Mike Grella has impressed in reserve match and could figure with the young Scot taking his rightful place on the wing. Andy Hughes and Frazer Richardson are both hobbled up and Jonathan Douglas is a likely replacement at right-back.

Nigel Adkins' Scunthorpe are an absolute pain to watch from a defending side on the road and in the midst of the three-match losing side that has their supporters ready to hear the reading of the Riot Act. Should they regain their focus and benefit from a number of players returning from injury, they are a serious threat to come out of the playoff battle and win promotion. Leeds will need to pay careful attention to Gary Hooper and Paul Hayes as they are more than capable of littering the nets.
