Monterrey continued towards their thirty-point goal in the Clausura with a close 1-0 victory over San Luis at the Tecnológico. Without the services of Felipe Baloy and Humberto Suazo still under suspension Víctor Manuel Vucetich utilized Aldo de Nigris as his lone striker.
The Rayados first serious scoring threat resulted in the matches lone goal as eleven minutes in Luis Ernesto Pérez provision to Walter Ayoví resulted in the Ecuadorian international driving the ball to the back of the net. Chances for the most part were well under control for much of the match and of the few threats both 'keepers proved up to the challenge. While Christian Martínez only had to deal with a few realistic chances his stop of José Rodolfo Reyes's effort at the seventeenth minute saved the win for the Rayados. Following the break Víctor Manuel Vucetich displayed absolute defending prowess and didn't allow a single menacing attack in route to a 1-0 victory.
With three matches remaining in the campaign, Monterrey returns to action next Sunday against Atlante.
