The Kashima Antlers put their stamp on the J-League awards as their striker Marquinhos (Marcos Gomes De Araujo) won the MVP award and Golden Boot for top scorer and their manager Oswaldo Oliveira being presented the top manager award for the second successive year. Yoshizumi Ogawa of Nagoya Grampus was awarded top rookie of the year.In addition to the above awards the Antlers had three players named to the "Best XI" of the J-League as listed below:
