With PSV facing Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday, today's match against high-flying FC Groningen is a tough mix for Hubb Stevens to blend. While the defending champions cannot afford to continue to drop points they will likely prioritize the match in England. After a convincing 3-0 victory over De Graafschap, the wheels have fallen off as they have lost 3-0 to Willem II and 2-0 to AZ in successive weeks and will be looking to prey upon PSV's woes, which as only seen one victory in the previous six matches.
Based upon his play with Jong PSV, Nordin Amrabat should be available but Hubb Stevens has listed him as questionable and likely to save him for Tuesday. Jan Kromkamp and Ibrahim Afellay will both sit out the match with injuries as well. FC Groningen manager Ron Jans is without 'keeper Luciano, Koen van de Laak, Evgeniy Levchenko, Sepp de Roover and Jeroen Veldmate.
In discussing the Groningen side Hubb Stevens said they "are a good and compact team with balance in all departments" and “are attack-minded and well-organised.”
I will report upon the match as it concludes.
