a right call by the FA

As much as I wish Shaun Wright-Phillips had shown self-control in the recent Stoke City match when he lashed out against Rory Delap, with the FA charging the young man with violent conduct they have done the correct thing. This may upset City supports, so be it but right is never wrong and this needed to be acted upon. While I am often harsh on the FA and I wish they would dispatch justice with an even hand, this was the correct move to make.

The Football Association has charged Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips with violent conduct after an incident in Saturday's defeat by Stoke.

The match official, Martin Atkinson missed his retaliation but after reviewing video footage Mr Atkinson has informed The FA that, had he seen it at the time, he would have shown Wright-Phillips a red card for violent conduct.

The twenty-seven year-old winger has until Thursday to repond with the Regulatory Commission hearing the case the following day.

Accept the responsibility, learn from it and move on.
