issue with pitch for FA Cup match

Everton’s third round FA Cup match against League Two Macclesfield Town is jeopardy due to pitch conditions. The pitch does not have an underground heating system and there is concern that it will freeze over and be unplayable. Late Friday afternoon the match referee inspected the surface and while satisfactory at the time it will depend on overnight conditions. The club has been using extra heaters to thaw the surface but the decision will come down to a early morning check.
