1899 Hoffenheim's Vedad Ibišević injured in practice

After leading the Bundesliga for the first half of the season with eighteen goals, Vedad Ibišević’s year might be over as he suffered what appears to be a serious injury in a friendly today against Hamburg.

In a statement issued on the club web-site, there is concern he ruptured a ligament:

“A first examination has raised the suspicion of an anterior right cruciate ligament rupture. He is expected to return home and undergo a detailed examination in Heidelberg.”

It has been a remarkable year for Vedad Ibišević as he has lead 1899 Hoffenheim to the top of the Bundesliga table as well as being named Bosnia and Herzegovina’s player of the year. The club is expected to release further information on the injury upon examination in the morning.
