Shay Given “despondent”

The Independent’s Michael Walker is reporting that Shay Given has grown dispondent with the club and considering recent interest in him by Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham.

Speaking to his representative Michael Kennedy, the Republic of Ireland international is said to feel the 5-1 lambasting by Newcastle as a “low point of his career” and “feels compelled to consider his position.”

He went on to add:

“Shay is very despondent following the very poor performance of the team against Liverpool last weekend. Having served the club loyally for over 11 years, Shay feels compelled to consider his position in the light of the interest being expressed in him by Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham.”

Manchester City is said to be preparing a £10m offer to see if Newcastle will waiver on their position of keeping the ‘keeper.
