PSV defeats De Graafschap 3-1

With Dwight Lodeweges in-charge, PSV broke its three match win-less skid with a resounding 3-0 victory over relegation threatened De Graafschap. The victory holds PSV in fifth position and while they are a distant fifteen points behind AZ, they are only six points behind Ajax in the all important Champions League spot.

The home side was barely in the match as PSV came within a whisper of scoring twice early. However it would be long till Ibrahim Afelley put his name on the score sheet fourteen minutes in from the provision of Ola Toivonen. To De Graafschap's credit, they hunted for the equalizer right away but Andreas Isaksson turned aside Resit Schuurman's effort. However that was a close as it would get as the margin was doubled eight minutes before the half when Nordin Amrabat found the twenty-two year old Swedish international Ola Toivonen in the six yard box, which he calmly re-directed in. With sixteen minutes remaining Ibrahim Afelley out-ran defenders for nearly half the pitch before slamming the ball in to bring the ball to a final 3-0 score.
