relegation fight for Feyenoord as they lose to NEC Nijmegen

Feyenoord's trouble continue with a 1-0 loss to NEC Nijmegen leaving the squad only two points above relegation. Seemingly impossible but with the slide so steep, is it possible that Het Legioen needs to be worried about relegation? Sunday's loss was a painful point to drop as the match was heading to a draw before Milano Koenders headed the ball in deep into added time to give NEC the 1-0 victory.

Feyenoord was without Giovanni van Bronckhorst, André Bahia and Theo Lucius for the match and the losses created a multitude of defending problems. Under pressure in the final fifteen minutes of the half, Henk Timmer held back Dennis Rommedahl, Lasse Schöne and Jhonny van Beukering efforts with Karim El Ahmadi helping by pulling one ball back off the line. The Rotterdammers posed little threat going forward before the break and the only visible threat came after the re-start when Diego Biseswar forced NEC goalkeeper Gabor Babos into action but even that is embellishing the truth that they showed little ability.

In the final moments of added-time, disaster struck as Youssef El-Akchaoui's free-kick was flicked on by an unmarked Milano Koenders into the net to send Feyenoord back to Rotterdam with a 1-0 loss.
