Week 4 summary of Rosgosstrakh Championship of Russia

Week four of Rosgosstrakh Championship of Russia continued with Kryliya Sovetov and Dinamo at the top of the table.

Friday's lone match featured Kryliya Sovetov's 3 - 0 devouring of Khimki led by Jan Koller. Week after week the Czech veteran, best known for his years with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, has been a consistent goal-scorer as he was on Friday opening the mark midway the opening half.

On Saturday, the first of the weekend Moskva derbies saw the Citizens easily defeat Spartak 3-1 (full-match report). The loss sends Spartak Moskva near the bottom of the table and the Michael Laudrup's reign will be under pressure to improve fast. Elsewhere Dinamo Moskva maintained pace with Kryliya Sovetov as they defeated Rostov 1-0 with Russian international Aleksandr Kerzhakov converting from the spot with only thirteen minutes remaining (full-match report). The Cossacks of Kuban Krasnodar held Tom Tomsk to a nil draw whilst defending champions defeated Terek Grozny 2-1, led by early strikes from Sergei Semak and Alejandro Domínguez.

On Sunday the attention was focused on Luzhniki with a heated derby between Moskva between CSKA and Lokomotiv Moscow. However that failed to materialize as CSKA, led by Yuri Zhirkov and Alan Dzagoev (full-match report) rolled over Lokomotiv 4-1. Elsewhere Bosnian international Marko Topić scored with six minutes remaining to give Jürgen Röber's Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast a 1-1 draw against Spartak Nalchik and the Petrovski faithful were denied a celebration as Zenit Saint Petersburg played Amkar Perm to a scoreless draw. Despite controlling the run of play Amkar was able to hold Zenit back in the final third. With many considering Zenit as the top performing side in the early campaign, Amkar manager Dimitar Dimitrov expressed his pleasure with the result:

"We came here to put up a fight. I know, that Zenit is the best team of Russia, best team in terms of squad, tactics, way of playing - Zenit's footballers play modern football. For me this match was a tactical fight. I have no complains about the way of playing and control of the ball to my players - they didn't catch up against opponent in many moments. But I am very happy, that my team has reached the result."
