Leeds wins in convincing fashion

As loyal Leeds supporters look back over the season the 3-0 victory over Walsall should be remembered as one of their most efficient matches and disciplined following of match tactics.

Leeds came out of the gate quickly with Jermaine Beckford missing closely in the within five minutes of the start. Yet while Leeds had a number of good scoring opportunities before the break and controlled possession the match went to the break scoreless. However less than a minute after the re-start, Luciano Becchio played a heroic role as he pounced on a defensive blunder and dispatched the ball was in the back of net, giving Leeds a 1-0 lead. Walsall sprung to life and began the threaten offensively but Leeds held strong. With Andy Robinson entering the match just before the hour mark, the direction of play returned to Leeds favour and twenty minutes after the break, he drew the ball back to Fabian Delph at the edge of the box, who subsequently drove the ball to top corner of the net. Leeds was well in control of the match and with three minutes remaining the highly promising eighteen year-old added his second with a beautiful curling strike.

Leeds returns to action on Tuesday against Southend and at this stage of the League One campaign, every match is a "must win" if you're focused on promotion.

As a separate note, while it is deserving of much more than this small reference, a special mention is owing for Bristol Rovers Rickie Lambert who drove in four goals against Southend.
