Man City to UEFA Cup

After an easy paced first half, Man City unleashed two quick goals against the Cypriot upstarts and won easily 2-1. The victory pushes Man City towards their hardware goals in advancing to the group stage of the UEFA Cup with a 4-2 aggregate.

Elano broke the deadlock three minutes after the break, set-up by Robinho, with a strike from the top of the area. Shaun Wright-Phillips doubled the score seven minutes later and City went confidently on cruise control. AC Omonia fought valiantly and drew one back as Rasheed Alabi scored with twelve minutes remaining.

After the match Mark Hughes commented:
"I felt it was important for the development of the team that we progressed into the group stages and we have done that. I think we can reach the latter stages so let's hope for a decent draw and see what we can do."

Man City returns to action as they face Liverpool on Sunday.
