FC Moscow falls short to F.C. København
The Citizens effort to advance in the UEFA Cup came up short in Copenhagen as they fought to a 1-1 draw against F.C. København. The Danish club advances with a 3-2 aggregate and Oleg Blokhin's club will look back on the first leg of the match and realize how the Libor Sionko's goal three minutes into added-time tipped the balance.
FC Moscow came out honourably on the attack with Héctor Bracamonte giving them the lead three minutes past the half hour mark. Nine minutes after the break Aleksandr Sheshukov was the unfortunate victim of a own goal to level the match. The Citizens poured forward looking for the all-important second "away" goal but it could not be found.
FC Moscow travels to Samara to face Krysy on Sunday. Sitting tenth in the table and five points behind Krylia Sovetov at seventh, their chances of advancing to European competition appears remote and they now could play the role of the spoiler.
