Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 play to 2-2 draw

In a brilliant match-up, Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 played to a 2-2 draw in Veltins-Arena. In many ways, Wolfsburg played their finest match of the year as they showed a higher level of discipline and fundamental defensive play that they have in prior matches. Wolfsburg came close to taking three points but succumbed to late pressure as Kevin Kurányi netted the equalizer as time ran out.

In front of a sell-out home crowd, Schalke got out in front at the twenty minute mark as a Halil Altintop corner was headed to the back of the net Kevin Kurányi. Six minutes after the break Ashkan Dejagah's volley was headed-in by Bosnia and Herzegovina international Edin Džeko and Wolfburg took a 2-1 lead when Caiuby scored off the break. Wolfsburg was down to one man when Ricardo Costa was brought down Heiko Westermann in the area and received a red-card. However Wolfsburg 'keeper Diego Benaglio stopped Rafinha. Schalke continued to pressure and deep into added time a Kevin Kurányi poached a loose ball off a corner into the net and to take the match to its final 2-2 score.
